Draw.io Review : Free Online Diagram Tool

The most widely known and commonly used tool for creating diagrams with ease probably is Microsoft Visio. But it’s quite pricey for personal use. There are a lot of free online diagram tools as an alternative for those who need an immediate way to begin creating diagrams. I already used Draw.io in order to creating a nice diagram in lightning speed. I’m not saying it is the best one but it’s handy if you only occasionally need to make diagrams.

draw.io is an online diagramming web site that delivers the source in this project. it uses the mxGraph library as the base of the stack, with the GraphEditor example from mxGraph as the base of the application part. The mxGraph library build used is stored under /etc/mxgraph/mxClient.js.

Review

Draw.io is a web application that utilizes a large amount of equally basic images to create your diagrams. Beside the general shapes, you can make UML, entity relation diagram, flowchart, etc using this web application. With simple drag-n-drop techniques, this quite easy to use. Although the graphics don’t have heavy detail in them, they are still effective in order to produce the intended result without having to spend money on an application.

One of it’s features is you can save diagrams on your computer or cloud services such as Google Drive and Drop Box so you can load and edit them later anywhere. The diagrams also could be exported to image format, pdf, html, or xml for your need. There is no method for registration or log in form as it allows users to visit the website and immediately begin creating a diagram. It is a completely free and nice web application since there’s no annoying ads at all. There is lot more than what I have mentioned here so feel to explore and use the tool.
